Announcing the Resonate Music Award 2009

A unique music scholarship with a chance to record at one of Bangalore’s best equipped studios under the wings of 4 music stalwarts.

The Resonate Music Award is part of Deepak Rao’s long-term commitment to the music scene in India. The inaugural award will aim at musicians in Bangalore in its first year of inception and aims to be a significant contribution towards an artist or band’s dream of releasing an album of international quality by opening the doors to recognition in the national and international music scene. With the help of many established music gurus covering many genres across India, the award will contribute not only towards the relieving some of the financial stress, but also towards guiding the artists to a successful music career.

The award pledges to cover recording, mixing and mastering costs for a full length album. The panel of judges consists of India’s leading musicians, Nolan Lewis of Kryptos fame, Sahil Makhija, also known as the ‘Demonstealer’ and Chris Avinash. Chris Avinash will record the band at his spanking new studio, Christortion in Bangalore and provide guidance to the recipients on how to market this brand new album to achieve maximum impact.

Entries will be judged based on the quality of original compositions and the band’s vision on marketing the finished album.

Nolan Lewis, founding member of Kryptos, one of India’s most explosive Heavy Metal bands, is very complimentary of the award. ”This award is a great initiative to inspire and promote local talent to get the recognition they deserve as well as expose them and their music to a larger and hopefully more appreciative audience”.

Sahil, a.k.a the Demonstealer, one of the most well known people in the Indian music scene today goes on to say “The award is something every band is going to look forward too, in this day and age you need more than just good music and giving bands the chance to be produced and recorded will definitely take the burden of saving money off their heads and allow them to focus more on music and their personal musical development.”

Chris is an industry stalwart with over 12 years of experience in the music business. “I’m happy to be part of TRMA. This is something I wish we had when we started out! It’s a wonderful experience to be able to give back, in some way, to the community of musicians that I am so proud to be a part of. The team at TRMA is thoroughly professional and have an incredible amount of goodwill that they bring to the table, in addition to actually putting their money and skills where it matters”.

Deepak is the founder of The Resonate Music Award, and is extremely excited at turning a long term desire into a reality. “I know from first hand experience the difficulties associated with putting out a quality release. I sincerely hope that this award will help to identify local talent and give them a leg-up in the music industry. Having found partners that share the same vision, I look forward to promoting Indian music talent. This award is the result of us wanting to give something back to the community we enjoy being a part of”
Entries for the 2009 Resonate Award are now open and closes on the 20th of Aug with the winner being announced on the 1st of September. For more information about how to apply and who can partake, please visit www.resonate.in
